Why does this sentence use quienes instead of just que?
In Spanish, when a connecting word refers to people and comes right after a preposition like en, you must use quien for one person or quienes for multiple people. Since it refers to esos colegas (those colleagues), we use the plural quienes.
Why is there an en before quienes?
In English we usually just say we trust someone, but in Spanish, the verb confiar (to trust) is followed by the preposition en to mean to trust in someone. Because we are talking about the colleagues we trust in, that en goes right before quienes.
