Questions & Answers about Diz-me a verdade e sê sincero.
Why is the verb diz so short, and what verb is it from?
Diz is the informal command (imperative for tu) of the irregular verb dizer (to say/tell). Instead of following the normal rule of dropping the 's' from the present tense (tu dizes), it shrinks down to the irregular short form diz.
Why is the pronoun me attached to the end of diz with a hyphen?
In European Portuguese, affirmative commands always have their object pronouns attached to the end of the verb with a hyphen. This is why 'tell me' becomes diz-me.
