Questions & Answers about La luna andrà nel tuo segno e vedrai un cambiamento positivo.
Why does andare become andrà in the future tense instead of following the normal rules?
Andare (to go) is one of a special group of verbs that drop a vowel in their future tense stem. Normally, an -are verb changes to -er before adding the future endings, which would give us anderà. But andare drops that middle vowel to become the shorter stem andr-. We then add the he/she/it ending -à for la luna (the moon) to get andrà.
Is vedrai following the same irregular rule?
Exactly! The verb vedere (to see) belongs to that same group of stem-dropping irregular verbs. Instead of vederai, it drops the vowel to make the stem vedr-. Then we add the you ending -ai to make vedrai (you will see).
Why do we use nel before tuo segno instead of just in?
In Italian, you usually need to include a definite article (the words for the) before a possessive adjective like tuo (your). Because segno (sign) is masculine singular, it takes the article il. When you combine the preposition in with il, they merge to form the articulated preposition nel (in the).
Why is the word order un cambiamento positivo instead of un positivo cambiamento?
In Italian, adjectives that describe a noun's factual qualities or categorize it almost always go right after the noun. So, rather than saying a positive change, you place the adjective at the end to say un cambiamento positivo (a change positive).
