Questions & Answers about Io sono di Roma, e tu?
Why does this sentence use di to mean "from"?
I've seen da used for "from" before. Why aren't we using it here?
Could I drop the Io and just say Sono di Roma, e tu?
Yes, absolutely! Italians usually drop subject pronouns like io because the verb form (sono) already makes it clear who is speaking. In this sentence, io is included for emphasis to set up the contrast with e tu? (and you?).
