Questions & Answers about آیا ما اجازه داریم که قبل از اینکه با زندانی ملاقات کنیم، برای او غذا بیاوریم؟
Why is the verb for "bring" (بیاوریم) in the subjunctive form here?
It follows the main phrase اجازه داریم که (we are allowed to). In Farsi, when you use اجازه داشتن (to be allowed), the following action must be in the Present Subjunctive. Here, the action we are asking permission for is بیاوریم (we bring).
What about ملاقات کنیم (we meet)? Why is that also in the subjunctive form?
That verb is in the subjunctive because it follows قبل از اینکه (before). Time phrases like "before" and "until" introduce an action that hasn't happened yet, so they also require the Present Subjunctive.
Why does the sentence use با (with) before "the prisoner"?
In English, you "meet someone", but in Farsi, the compound verb ملاقات کردن (to meet / to visit) requires the preposition با (with). You are literally saying "meet with the prisoner" (با زندانی ملاقات کنیم).
How is the word بیاوریم (we bring) formed?
It comes from the infinitive آوردن (to bring). To make the subjunctive, we add the prefix بـ (be-). Because the stem starts with an آ (â) vowel, we insert a ی (y) to bridge the two vowel sounds, giving us بیـ + آور + ـیم = بیاوریم (bi-y-âvarim).
