Why is it pidió and not "pedió"?
The verb pedir (to ask for) is an "-ir" verb. In the preterite (past) tense, many "-ir" verbs have a stem change in the third-person forms (he, she, it, you formal, and they). Here, the "e" changes to an "i", making it pidió instead of "pedió".
Where is the word for "for" in pidió otra manta?
The verb pedir translates to "to ask for" or "to request". The "for" is already built into the verb, so you do not need to add a word like por or para after it.
Why isn't it una otra manta for "another blanket"?
