Why is it te la instead of ti la?
When an indirect object pronoun like ti (to you) is followed by a direct object pronoun like la (it), the -i changes to an -e. So, ti + la becomes the combined pronoun te la.
Why does the Italian use the singular pronoun la when the English translation says "lend them"?
In English, the word "pliers" is plural, so we use "them". However, in Italian, la pinza is a singular feminine noun. Therefore, it must be replaced by the singular feminine direct object pronoun la (meaning "it").
