Questo pacco è per me.

Questions & Answers about Questo pacco è per me.

Why do we use me here instead of mi?
In Italian, when a pronoun comes right after a preposition like per (for), we use a "tonic" (or strong) pronoun. For the first person ("me"), the strong pronoun is exactly the same as in English: me. The weaker pronoun mi is used when it goes directly before a verb (like in mi piace).
If the package was for "you", would I use ti?
No! Just like you can't use mi after a preposition, you can't use ti. You must use the strong pronoun for "you", which is te. So, "This package is for you" would be Questo pacco è per te.
Why does the sentence start with Questo instead of Questa?
Questo is a demonstrative adjective meaning "this". It must always match the gender and number of the noun it describes. Because pacco (package) is a masculine singular noun, we use the masculine singular form Questo.
Are there other prepositions that work like per with these pronouns?
Yes! You will use these same strong pronouns (me, te, lui, lei, noi, voi, loro) after almost all prepositions in Italian. Some of the most common ones you will see are con (with, as in con me), di (of), and da (from/by).
