Ja imam psa.
I have a dog.
Ti imaš mačku.
You have a cat.
Mi imamo veliku kuću.

Ana has a small cat.

The adjective mali changes its form according to the noun (mačku).

Luka ima psa.
Luka has a dog.

The masculine word pas becomes psa when it's a direct object.

Imamo mali stan u gradu.
We have a small apartment in the city.
Ja imam novi auto.
I have a new car.
Ana ima mačku.
Ana has a cat.

The feminine mačka becomes mačku when used as a direct object.

Imam pitanje, a ti imaš dobar odgovor.
I have a question, and you have a good answer.
On pita koliko minuta imamo.
He asks how many minutes we have.
U ponedjeljak imamo ručak s obitelji.
On Monday we have lunch with the family.
