Why are the verbs at the end of the sentence in the subjunctive mood?
The sentence starts with شاید (perhaps / maybe). Expressing uncertainty or possibility in Farsi triggers the subjunctive mood, which is why we use فراموش کند and لبخند بزند instead of their normal present indicative forms.
Both verbs are compound verbs in the subjunctive. Why does لبخند بزند get the بـ (be-) prefix, but فراموش کند does not?
With compound verbs, the 'light verb' (the second word) takes the subjunctive form. For verbs ending in کردن (like فراموش کردن), modern Farsi almost always drops the بـ prefix, leaving just کند. However, verbs ending in زدن (like لبخند زدن) usually keep it, becoming بزند.

They are linked using the ezâfe vowel, pronounced 'e', making it bâzigar-e jadid. Like most short vowels in Farsi, this 'e' is not written in the script, but you must say it to connect the noun to its adjective.
