Setting the Scene

When talking about cinema and acting in Farsi, you will use vocabulary like کارگردان (director), صحنه (scene), and the verb هدایت کردن (to direct / guide).

Doing Things "Just As" Instructed

To describe an action being performed exactly as requested, written, or previously done, Farsi uses the conjunction همان‌طور که (just as / in the same way that).

This is useful for talking about following instructions, such as an actor delivering a line exactly as it appears in the script.

You can also place the clause with همان‌طور که at the beginning of the sentence to establish the instruction first:

Versatility Across Tenses

The conjunction همان‌طور که connects clauses naturally across different tenses. You can use it to describe an ongoing past action matching a completed instruction:

You can even use it to describe keeping something "just as it was," unaltered in its original state:
