Questions & Answers about اگر رفتار شما بد باشد، اجازه ندارید که خانوادهی خود را ببینید.
Why is bebinid in the subjunctive form here?
It follows the phrase ejâze nadârid ke (you are not allowed to). In Farsi, when expressing permission with ejâze dâshtan (to be allowed), the action you are allowed to do must be in the present subjunctive. Here, we form it with the prefix be- on the verb didan (to see), making it bebinid.
Why do we use the verb 'to have' (nadârid) for 'not allowed'?
English uses the passive 'to be allowed', but Farsi uses the active concept of 'having permission' (ejâze dâshtan). Because the sentence says 'you are not allowed', it uses the negative present tense of 'to have' for 'you', which is nadârid.
Why does the sentence use khod instead of shomâ for 'your family'?
khod means 'self' or 'own'. When the owner of an object is the exact same as the subject of the sentence (in this case, 'you'), Farsi strongly prefers using khod instead of repeating the pronoun. So, khânevâde-ye khod acts as 'your own family'.
Why is the verb bâshad used in the first part of the sentence instead of ast?
bâshad is the present subjunctive form of 'to be'. It is used here because the sentence starts with agar (if). In Farsi conditional clauses, the verb is usually placed in the subjunctive mood to show that the situation is a hypothetical possibility rather than a completed fact.
What is the purpose of râ after the family?
râ is the definite direct object marker. It points out the specific target receiving the action of the verb. Because 'your family' (khânevâde-ye khod) is a definite, specific group that you are not allowed to see, we must place râ immediately after it.
