Learn Dutch: Bij deze elektrische auto is de optie standaard, maar bij die van u niet. - With this electric car the option is standard, but with yours it is not.

Using die van u (literally 'that of you') is a very common way to say 'yours' without repeating the noun. While uw auto is grammatically fine, it sounds a bit repetitive. You could also use the independent possessive pronoun de uwe, but die van u is much more natural and frequently used in everyday spoken Dutch.

Why does the phrase use die instead of dat in die van u?

The demonstrative pronoun must match the gender of the noun it replaces. Because it refers back to de auto, which is a de-word, we use die. If the sentence were about a het-word (for example, het model), you would say dat van u.

Why is the word order is de optie instead of de optie is?

This is due to inversion. The main clause begins with the prepositional phrase Bij deze elektrische auto, which takes up the first position. To keep the verb in the strict second position, the subject (de optie) must swap places and come immediately after the verb (is).

Why is the preposition bij used here to mean 'with', rather than met?
