Why does en caso de que trigger the subjunctive produzca here?
The phrase en caso de que (in case) always requires the subjunctive. It introduces a contingency—a hypothetical event that hasn't happened yet, and might not happen at all. Because producing a paradox is just a possibility we are preparing for, Spanish requires the subjunctive produzca.
How does investiguemos translate to "let's investigate"?
To say "let's [do something]" in Spanish, you use the nosotros (we) command, which is identical to the nosotros form of the present subjunctive. You could also use the conversational workaround vamos a investigar, but investiguemos is the direct command form. Notice that the g changes to gu to keep the hard "g" sound before the "e".
Why does the verb producir change to produzca with a "zc"?
