Questions & Answers about No voy al bar solo.
Why does the sentence use al instead of a el?
In Spanish, whenever the preposition a (to) is followed immediately by the masculine word for 'the' (el), they always combine into the single word al. This makes it flow better when speaking. So, instead of saying a el bar, we say al bar.
Would a woman say this sentence exactly the same way?
Almost! If a woman is speaking, she would change solo (alone) to sola. Even though it describes how you are doing the action, solo changes its ending to match the gender of the person it describes.
Since this lesson is about con (with), how would I say 'I don't go to the bar with you' instead of 'alone'?
Why isn't the word yo (I) at the beginning of the sentence?
