With me and with you (conmigo, contigo)

Conmigo and contigo

The preposition con means "with." To say "with me" or "with you" (informal), you do not use the regular pronouns. Instead, they combine into special, single words:

  • conmigo (with me)
  • contigo (with you)
Are you going to the meeting with me?
¿Vas a la reunión conmigo?
We are going out with you today.
Nosotros salimos contigo hoy.
She is not going with you because she does not have the invitation.
Ella no va contigo porque no tiene la invitación.

Together or alone

When talking about going out (salir), you can also describe if you are going together (junto) or alone (solo). Remember to make these adjectives match the gender and number of the people they describe (like juntos for a group).

We are going to the event together.
Vamos al evento juntos.
I don't go to the bar alone.
No voy al bar solo.
