Why is it esta and not isto?
Camisa (shirt) is a feminine noun, so you have to use the feminine singular word for "this", which is esta. You use isto when pointing to a general, unnamed thing or a situation where you don't know the gender yet.
Why do we use é to say the shirt is cheap? Aren't prices temporary?
Even though prices might change, Portuguese treats being cheap (barato) or expensive (caro) as an essential characteristic of the item itself. Because of this, we use é (from the permanent verb ser) rather than está (from the temporary verb estar).
Why doesn't the word muito change to muita to match the feminine shirt?
In this sentence, muito means "very" and describes the adjective barata (cheap). When it is used this way, it never changes its spelling. It only changes to match the gender and number of a word (like muita, muitos) when it describes a noun, meaning "a lot of" or "many".
Why does the second sentence use do instead of just o preço?
The verb gostar (to like) is almost always followed by the preposition de. Because preço (price) is a masculine noun, it uses the masculine word for "the", which is o. When you put them together, de + o naturally merges into the single word do.
