Why is it te la instead of ti la?
The pronoun te means 'to you' (indirect object) and la means 'it' (replacing the feminine noun videocassetta). When an indirect object pronoun like ti is placed right next to a direct object pronoun like la, the i in ti changes to an e. So, ti + la becomes te la.
Where do combined pronouns like te la go in the sentence?
They are placed right before the conjugated verb, exactly as single pronouns are. Notice how te la sits directly in front of the verb porto. They also always stay together in a strict order: the indirect object ('to who') comes first, followed by the direct object ('what').
Why does da me translate to 'at my place'?
The preposition da often means 'from', but when you use it directly before a person's name or a pronoun, it takes on the meaning of 'at someone's place' or 'to someone's house'. Therefore, da me means 'at my place', just as da Marco would mean 'at Marco's place'.
Why use the present tense porto if the action happens domani (tomorrow)?
In Italian, you can frequently use the present tense for future events, provided that a time word like domani makes it clear when the action is happening. You do not always need to use the actual future tense for fixed plans in the near future!
