Why are November and December written with lowercase letters?
In Italian, months of the year like novembre and dicembre, as well as days of the week and seasons, are not capitalized unless they appear at the very beginning of a sentence.
Why do we use a instead of in before the months?
To say something happens "in" a certain month, Italians commonly use the preposition a, as in a novembre. You will also hear people use the preposition in (in novembre). Both are perfectly correct and common!
Could I say a novembre e a dicembre?
You could, but it is not necessary. Just like in English, you can drop the second preposition when grouping them together with e (and). Saying a novembre e dicembre sounds perfectly natural.
Why does molto end in "-o" here?
Molto means "a lot of" or "much" here, and it describes the noun lavoro (work). Because lavoro is a singular, masculine noun, molto must match it. If the noun were feminine plural, like cose (things), it would change to match: molte cose.
