Why does toujours come after fais instead of before it?
In French, adverbs of frequency like toujours (always) usually go directly after the conjugated verb. Unlike English, you can never put an adverb between the subject (Je) and the verb (fais). You must say Je fais toujours (I do always), not Je toujours fais (I always do).
I thought faire meant to make or to do. Why does it mean exercise here?
