Questions & Answers about او دفتر خصوصی میخواهد، مگر اینکه اینجا را عادلانه تقسیم کنیم.
Why is the verb تقسیم کنیم (we divide) in the subjunctive form here?
The phrase مگر اینکه (unless) introduces a conditional or hypothetical situation. In Farsi, the verb following مگر اینکه must be in the present subjunctive. That is why we use تقسیم کنیم instead of the indicative تقسیم میکنیم.
Why is the first verb, میخواهد (he wants), in the present indicative if this is a conditional sentence?
The main clause states a definite, current fact: right now, he wants a private office. The subjunctive is only triggered in the second clause by مگر اینکه, because dividing the office is a hypothetical condition that hasn't happened yet.
Usually اینجا means "here." Why does it take the specific direct object marker را (اینجا را)?
While اینجا often translates as the adverb "here," Farsi treats it as a noun meaning "this place." Because "this place" is the specific thing being divided (the direct object of the verb), it requires the marker را.
How is the adverb عادلانه (fairly) constructed?
It is made by adding the suffix ـانه to the adjective عادل (fair or just). The suffix ـانه is commonly used in Farsi to turn nouns and adjectives into adverbs, much like "-ly" in English.
