Questions & Answers about رسیدن به استقلال سخته، اما من پسانداز میکنم برای اینکه یه بازنشستگی خوب داشته باشم.
Why is the verb داشته باشم in the subjunctive here?
Because of the phrase برای اینکه (in order to / so that). This phrase introduces an explicit purpose clause showing your intention. Since your goal of having a good retirement is a hope or plan for the future rather than a guaranteed reality right now, Farsi requires you to use the present subjunctive.
I learned that subjunctive verbs usually start with the بـ prefix. Why doesn't داشته باشم have one?
You are right that most verbs take a بـ prefix in the subjunctive, but the verb داشتن (to have) is an exception. To form its present subjunctive, it uses its past participle (داشته) followed by the subjunctive forms of "to be" (like باشم for the "I" form), entirely skipping the بـ prefix.
Why is there a به (to) right after رسیدن (reaching)? In English, we just "reach independence."
In Farsi, the verb رسیدن (to reach, to arrive) is always followed by the preposition به (to). Whether you are arriving at a physical city or reaching an abstract goal like استقلال (independence), you must literally "arrive to" it in Farsi.
How does the compound verb پسانداز کردن mean "to save money"?
It makes a lot of sense when you break it down! پس means "back" or "behind," and انداز comes from the verb انداختن (to throw or drop). When you save money, you are literally "throwing it behind" or putting it aside for later use.
