Questions & Answers about Afgezien van één probleem zullen wij alles verhelpen en de borg terugstorten.
How does placing afgezien van at the start of the sentence affect the message?
The phrase afgezien van één probleem acts as a topic bracket. By placing this complex prepositional phrase at the very beginning, you immediately set aside the exception (the one problem) before delivering the main point (fixing everything and refunding the money). This is a common, elegant way to manage expectations in professional Dutch.
Why is the word order zullen wij instead of wij zullen?
This is due to the V2 (verb-second) rule in Dutch main clauses. The entire phrase Afgezien van één probleem occupies the first position in the sentence. To ensure the conjugated verb stays in the strict second position, zullen must come next, forcing the subject wij to immediately follow it (this is called inversion).
Terugstorten (to refund) is a separable verb. Why isn't it separated in this sentence?
Separable verbs only split when they act as the active, conjugated verb in a main clause. In this sentence, the conjugated verb is the auxiliary zullen. This pushes the main action verbs (verhelpen and terugstorten) to the end of their respective clauses as full infinitives, meaning they stay completely intact as single words.
Why is there no second auxiliary verb or subject after the word en?
