Questions & Answers about Bana göre bu film çok tuhaf.
Why is it bana göre instead of ben göre?
The postposition göre (according to / compared to) always requires the word before it to be in the dative case (the "to/for" direction). The pronoun ben (I) is irregular; when you add the dative ending, it changes to bana. So, bana göre literally means "according to me."
Does bana göre mean "according to me" or "compared to me" here?
It means "according to me" (or "in my opinion") in this context. The word göre can also mean "compared to" when you are comparing two different things, but when expressing a thought about a movie, it translates best as "to me" or "in my opinion."
Is bana göre the same as saying bence?
Yes, they are completely interchangeable when expressing an opinion! You could easily say bence bu film çok tuhaf and it would carry the exact same meaning: "in my opinion, this movie is very weird."
Why is there no verb like "is" at the end of this sentence?
In Turkish, simple present-tense sentences that just describe what something is often don't need a verb. Because the subject is a third-person thing (bu film), you simply place the describing adjective (çok tuhaf) at the end. The "is" is naturally understood.
