The lesson is about using volere with an action (an infinitive verb), but there is no second verb here. Is that okay?
Yes! While you are learning to use volere (to want) with other verbs, you can also use it directly with a noun, just like in English. Here, vuoi simply means 'do you want' followed by the things being offered: un cappuccino o un caffè.
Why isn't there a word for 'do' or 'you' at the beginning of the sentence?
In Italian, the verb ending tells you who is doing the action. The -i at the end of vuoi means it is the 'you' form. Italian does not use helper words like 'do' to make questions, and you can usually drop the subject pronoun (tu). So, 'do you want' becomes just one word: vuoi.
How do we know this is a question if the word order is exactly the same as a regular statement?
In writing, the question mark is your only clue! In spoken Italian, you make it a question entirely with your tone of voice. You raise your pitch at the end of the sentence, just like you would say 'You want a coffee?' in English.
Why does caffè have an accent mark on the last letter?
The accent mark tells you to put the stress on that final vowel when you say the word out loud. Instead of stressing the first syllable, you stress the second. It also tells you that the word does not change its ending if you make it plural, so two coffees would be due caffè.
