Why do we say beaucoup d'entre nous here instead of just beaucoup de nous?
When expressing concepts like "many of us", "some of you", or "two of them", French uses the phrase d'entre followed by a stressed pronoun like nous, vous, eux, or elles. You cannot simply use de in this partitive construction. It translates literally to "many from among us".
Why is the verb rêvent conjugated to match ils/elles instead of matching nous?
The actual subject of the verb is the pronoun beaucoup (many), which takes the third-person plural conjugation. The phrase d'entre nous merely modifies beaucoup. Because "many" are doing the dreaming, the verb must be rêvent rather than rêvons.
Why is dont used here instead of que?
