Questions & Answers about Les vendeurs vont s'activer dès l'ouverture pour vider la palette.

Why use dès here instead of depuis or à partir de for "starting at"?

Dès implies an immediate start or "as soon as" something happens, emphasizing that there is no delay. À partir de just states a starting point without that urgency, and depuis means "since" for an action that started in the past and is ongoing. Here, dès l'ouverture highlights that the sellers get busy the very second the store opens.

What does the reflexive verb s'activer mean in this context?

The non-reflexive activer usually means to activate a thing, like a machine or an account. When made reflexive, s'activer means to activate oneself. It is a common way to say "to get busy", "to spring into action", or "to hurry up", which perfectly captures the bustle of workers doing a task.

Why is the reflexive pronoun s' placed before activer and not before vont?

This sentence uses the near future tense, which pairs the conjugated verb aller with an infinitive. In French, object and reflexive pronouns are always placed directly in front of the infinitive they belong to. That is why it is vont s'activer and never se vont activer.

Why do we need pour before vider?
