How do I know me is acting as an indirect object here rather than a direct object?

In a causative faire sentence, if the infinitive has a direct object (here, les meaning "them"), the person being made to do the action automatically takes the role of the indirect object. If there were no direct object being acted upon, the agent would simply be a direct object.
