Why do we use connaissons here instead of a form of savoir?
In French, connaître is used when you are familiar with a person, place, or thing (a noun). Here, you know a noun (un bon guide). You use savoir for knowing facts, knowing information, or knowing how to do something.
How does the verb connaître conjugate with nous?
Connaître is an irregular verb. For the plural forms (nous, vous, ils/elles), the base of the verb changes to add a double s. That is why it becomes nous connaissons.
Why does bon come before guide?
