Questions & Answers about برای ایمنی، لازم است که در کارخانه به همدیگر کمک کنید.
Why is the verb at the end konid instead of mikonid?
The phrase lâzem ast (it is necessary) triggers a mood change in Farsi. When you say it is necessary that (ke) someone does something, the second verb must be in the present subjunctive. That is why we drop the mi- prefix from mikonid and use the subjunctive form konid.
Shouldn't the subjunctive form of the verb have a be- prefix?
Normally, yes! The subjunctive usually adds a be- prefix. However, komak kardan (to help) is a compound verb made of a noun plus kardan (to do). With many compound verbs, especially those ending in kardan, Farsi speakers usually drop the be- prefix. So we say komak konid instead of komak bekonid.
Why is there a be before hamdigar (each other) when English just says "help each other"?
In Farsi, the verb komak kardan (to help) requires the preposition be (to). You can think of it as literally meaning "to give help to someone." That is why we must say be hamdigar (to each other) before the verb.
How is the word imeni (safety) formed?
It is built from the adjective imen (safe) plus the noun-forming suffix -i. Adding -i to an adjective is a very common way to create an abstract noun in Farsi, just like adding "-ty" or "-ness" in English.
