Questions & Answers about تصمیم میگیرم بچه را تنها نگذارم.
How is نگذارم built, and what makes it negative subjunctive?
It comes from the verb گذاشتن (to put/leave). The present stem is گذار. To make the negative present subjunctive, we attach the negative prefix نـ (na-) instead of the usual بـ (be-) prefix, and add the "I" ending ـم (-am). This gives us نگذارم (not to leave).
Why do we use the subjunctive form here instead of the normal present negative نمیگذارم?
In Farsi, when you have two connected verbs and the first one shows an intention, desire, or a decision (like تصمیم میگیرم, meaning "I decide"), the second verb must be in the subjunctive. It works just like using "to" in English: "I decide not to leave".
Is تصمیم میگیرم one verb or two?
It is a compound verb. Farsi uses many of these, pairing a noun with a helper verb. Here, تصمیم means "decision" and گرفتن means "to take" (literally, "I take a decision"). Because this is the main action happening right now, it takes the normal present tense prefix می (mi-).
Why do we need را after بچه (child)?
را (râ) is the specific object marker. Because the sentence is about leaving the child (a specific, known child) rather than just a child in general, we must attach را to show exactly who is receiving the action of being left alone.
