Questions & Answers about Müdürün tayini çıkınca çabuk çabuk gitti ve bir aylığına yerine bir vekil geldi.

How exactly does bir aylığına translate to 'for a month'?

This uses the structure for an intended temporary duration. It starts with the time period bir ay (one month), adds the suffix -lIk (which softens to -lığ-), followed by the 3rd person possessive -ı, a buffer -n-, and the dative suffix -a. You use this specifically when an action or state (like a substitute taking over) is intended to last for a specific, temporary amount of time.

Why is the verb çıkmak used in tayini çıkınca?

Tayin means 'appointment' or 'transfer', especially in government or corporate jobs. In Turkish, official assignments, lottery results, or bureaucratic decisions are often said to 'come out' (çıkmak). So tayini çıktı translates naturally to 'his transfer came through' or 'his transfer was issued'. The -ınca suffix turns it into 'when his transfer came through'.

Could I just say çok çabuk instead of çabuk çabuk?

Yes, you could, and the basic meaning would be the same. However, repeating an adjective or adverb like çabuk çabuk (hurriedly, hastily) paints a more vivid picture of how the action was performed. It emphasizes the continuous, rushed nature of his departure rather than just stating a fast speed.
