Questions & Answers about Değişikliklere rağmen, bilgiyi ulaşılabilir yapan her yenilik faydalıdır.
Like this lesson's topic -e gelince (as for...), rağmen (despite) requires a specific noun case. Which one is it?
It requires the dative case (-e/-a). Just like you would say değişikliklere gelince (as for the changes), you must use the dative with rağmen, giving us değişikliklere rağmen (despite the changes). Many postpositions and discourse markers in Turkish govern a specific case.
How is the word ulaşılabilir constructed?
It is built from the verb root ulaş (reach). First, the passive suffix -ıl is added (ulaşıl-, to be reached), followed by the potential suffix -abil (can be reached). Finally, the aorist suffix -ir turns the whole verb into an adjective, giving us ulaşılabilir (reachable/accessible).
Why does bilgiyi take the accusative case marker here?
Bilgiyi (the information) is the direct object of the participle yapan (making). Even though yapan acts as an adjective modifying yenilik (novelty), it retains its verb-like qualities and still assigns the accusative case to its specific direct object.
What is the function of the -dır suffix on faydalıdır?
