Questions & Answers about Fiyat endeksi çok yüksekti. Enflasyon bile artık düşmeyecekti.
How would this lesson's target word, nitekim, fit into this context?
Nitekim translates to "as a matter of fact," "indeed," or "just as expected," and is used to provide factual confirmation of a previous statement. You could place it at the beginning of the second sentence: Fiyat endeksi çok yüksekti. Nitekim enflasyon bile artık düşmeyecekti. (The price index was very high. Indeed, even inflation wasn't going to drop anymore.)
What does the combination of -yecek and -ti do in düşmeyecekti?
Why is bile placed after enflasyon rather than before it?
Unlike the English word "even," the Turkish word bile always comes immediately after the word or phrase it emphasizes. Because the emphasis here is on "even inflation," it must be written as enflasyon bile.
Why does artık translate to "anymore" here, when it often means "from now on"?
