Questions & Answers about Ölü gibi görünen ekinler canlanacak, çünkü onlara çok emek verdik.
The current lesson is about yine de (nevertheless). Why isn't it used here, and how could we change the sentence to include it?
This sentence uses çünkü (because) to explain a direct cause and effect: our hard work is the reason the crops will revive. Yine de introduces a contrary or surprising result. To use it, you would contrast the bad appearance with the good outcome: Ekinler ölü gibi görünüyor, yine de canlanacaklar (The crops look dead; nevertheless, they will come to life).
Why do we use görünen instead of a conjugated verb like görünüyor?
The suffix -(y)en turns the verb görünmek (to appear/look) into a subject participle, functioning as an adjective. It translates to "that look" or "appearing." Because it modifies the noun ekinler (crops) within the same clause, we need the participle görünen rather than a standalone verb.
Why does the sentence use onlara (to them) instead of the direct object onları?
The phrase emek vermek (to put in effort) literally translates to "to give labor." Just as you give a gift to someone, in Turkish you give your effort to something. Therefore, it requires the dative case suffix -e/-a, changing onlar (they) into onlara.
How is the verb canlanacak built from its root?
