When you want to wrap up a discussion, propose a final resolution, or settle on a compromise, Thai uses the particle ก็แล้วกัน placed at the very end of the clause or sentence. It translates closely to "Let's just...", "...then," or "Let's settle on...".

Reluctant Alternatives and Compromises

Because it implies that a final decision has been made to end a discussion, ก็แล้วกัน is extremely common when conceding a point, settling on a backup plan, or figuring out what to do when an issue is left unresolved (คาราคาซัง).

Pairing with เอาเป็นว่า

A very natural pattern for laying down a final resolution is to start the clause with เอาเป็นว่า (let's agree that / let's just say) and cap it off with ก็แล้วกัน at the end. This firmly but politely frames your statement as the concluding decision.

Yielding and Making Exceptions

Since ก็แล้วกัน carries an inherent sense of concession, it is the perfect particle to use when you are reluctantly giving in (จำใจ), making mutual concessions (อะลุ่มอล่วย), calling it a tie (เจ๊า), or making an exception to a rule (อนุโลม).
