### The Resultative Complement รู้เรื่อง

To express that you successfully understood what was communicated, Thai uses the resultative complement รู้เรื่อง (literally "to know the matter" or "to make sense").

Place this complement directly after a verb of perception (like listening) or communication (like speaking). To express that you *cannot* understand, insert the negative particle ไม่ immediately before the complement:

### Dealing with Speed and Clarity

In real conversations, people might speak rapidly (รัว), mumble (พึมพำ), or whisper (กระซิบ). When these obstacles prevent you from understanding, use ฟังไม่รู้เรื่อง to state that you are listening, but the meaning isn't coming through.
