Learn Spanish (Latin America): Me encanta esta serie.

Encantar is one of those verbs that works exactly like gustar. Instead of saying "I love this series," the Spanish sentence is structured more like "This series is enchanting to me." The thing you love (esta serie) is actually the subject doing the action, and me (to me) shows who is receiving that feeling.

I thought "to love" was amar or querer. Why are we using encantar?

You generally use amar and querer when you love people or pets. But when you want to say you "love" a thing, a place, or an activity, you use encantar. Since a TV show is a thing, we use encantar.

Why doesn't serie end in an "s" here?

In English, the word "series" ends in "s" whether it is singular or plural. In Spanish, it acts like a regular noun: the singular is serie (one series) and the plural is series (multiple series). Since we are talking about just one show, we use the singular serie.

Why is it esta serie instead of "este serie"?

The noun serie is feminine. Words like "this" and "that" have to match the gender of the noun they describe, so we use the feminine esta (this). If you were talking about a masculine noun, like programa (program), you would use este programa.
