In Spanish, we use regular numbers like dos, tres, and cuatro for the days of the month, not ordinal numbers like second or fourth. The only exception is the first of the month, which is el primero.

Why do we say el cuatro to mean "on the fourth"?

To say that something happens "on" a specific date, Spanish uses the masculine article el. It is masculine because it secretly refers to the word el día (the day), so it is like saying "the day four of April".
