Why is it un planeta and bonito if planeta ends in -a?
This is a rule-breaker! While most Spanish nouns ending in -a are feminine, planeta is masculine. That is why it uses the masculine word for a (un) and the masculine form of the adjective (bonito). Many words of Greek origin ending in -ta (like el planeta or el problema) are masculine exceptions.
Why is en used for "on" here? Doesn't it mean "in"?
The word en is very flexible and can mean "in", "on", or "at" depending on the context. Spanish uses en for being located somewhere, so you say en un planeta just like you would use it for a city or a room.
Why does bonito come after planeta?
