Questions & Answers about Nós trabalhamos muito em janeiro e fevereiro.
Why are the months janeiro and fevereiro written with lowercase letters?
In Portuguese, months of the year are not capitalized unless they appear at the very beginning of a sentence.
Do we always use the word em before a month?
Yes! When you want to say that something happens in a certain month, you always use the preposition em. You do not need to add the word for the, so it never merges into no or na before a month.
Why doesn't the word muito change to match the plural word Nós?
Can trabalhamos also mean we worked in the past tense?
Yes, it can! For regular verbs ending in -ar, the form for we (Nós) is exactly the same in both the present and the simple past tense. You just rely on the context to know which one makes sense.
