### School Business

**A matrícula** is the enrolment (*fazer a matrícula*), **os trabalhos de casa** the homework — plural, like the chores they are. **Reprovar** is to fail: *reprovei no teste*. Its happy opposite, *passar*, you already use.

### Nouns That Break the Gender Rules

Since A1 you have known *o problema* — masculine despite the -a. It has cousins: *o dia*, *o mapa*, *o programa*. And a second family has ONE form for both genders, with only the article moving: **o estudante / a estudante**, *o colega / a colega*, *o artista / a artista*. Never invent *"a estudanta"* — the article does all the work.
