Using 持もって　いる suggests that the condition or disease is chronic, whereas かかって　いる is neutral with respect to duration.

多おおく　の　人ひと　が　その　新あたらしい　ウイルス　に　かかって　います。ooku no hito ga sono atarasii uirusu ni kakatte imasu.

Many people have contracted that new virus.

多おおく　の　動どう物ぶつ　が　この　森もり　に　住すんで　います。ooku no doubutu ga kono mori ni sunde imasu.

Many animals live in this forest.

彼かれ　の　祖そ父ふ　は　東とう京きょう　に　住すんで　いました。kare no sohu ha toukyou ni sunde imasita.

年とし　を　取とって　いるtosi wo totte iru

父ちち　は　年とし　を　取とって　いる　ので、　よく　医い者しゃ　に　行いって　います。titi ha tosi wo totte iru node, yoku isya ni itte imasu.

My father has aged, so he often goes to the doctor.

ズボン　を　履はいて　います。zubon wo haite imasu.
