Questions & Answers about آیا قطعهی متحرکی را که آوردم، چک کردی؟
Why is râ placed after the adjective motaharreki instead of right after the noun qet'e?
The object receiving the action is the entire noun phrase 'the moving part'. In Farsi, the restrictive -i suffix and the object marker râ attach to the very end of this phrase (noun + ezafe + adjective), right before the relative pronoun ke.
If the translation says 'the' moving part (definite), why is there an indefinite -i suffix at the end of motaharrek?
In this context, that suffix is not the indefinite article meaning 'a' or 'an'. It is the restrictive -i used to introduce relative clauses. It signals that the following ke clause will define exactly which moving part you mean. Even though the object is specific (which is why we use râ), it still needs this suffix to link it to the descriptive clause.
Why does qet'e (قطعه) have an extra ye (ی) attached to it in قطعهی?
The word qet'e ends in a silent 'heh' (ه). To connect it to its adjective motaharrek using an ezafe (the linking 'e' sound), a /ye/ sound is needed to bridge the vowels. In modern Farsi spelling, this is often written explicitly with a ye (ی) to represent that bridging sound, forming qet'e-ye.
Why don't we put râ after chek since checking is the action you are doing?
