Questions & Answers about اینان دیپلماتهای ارشدی هستند که تازه از اروپا رسیدهاند.
Why use inân at the beginning of the sentence instead of inhâ?
inân is a formal demonstrative pronoun specifically used for people (animate nouns), meaning 'these people'. Since the sentence is about senior diplomats and has a formal tone, inân is the perfect choice. In casual everyday speech, you would usually just hear the standard inhâ.
What is the function of the -i at the end of diplomât-hâ-ye aršad-i?
This is the restrictive -i. When a noun phrase is followed by a ke (who/that) clause that defines exactly who or what we mean, we attach an -i to the end of that noun phrase. Here, it signals that we aren't talking about senior diplomats in general, but specifically the ones 'who have just arrived'.
I learned that tâze means 'fresh'. How does it mean 'just' here?
You are right that tâze literally means 'fresh' or 'new' when used as an adjective. However, when it is used as an adverb before a verb, it means 'freshly', 'recently', or 'just'. Here, tâze modifies the verb to show they 'freshly arrived' or 'just arrived'.
Why does the sentence use reside-and instead of the simple past residand?
reside-and is the present perfect tense ('have arrived'), formed by combining the past participle reside with the personal ending -and. It is used here instead of the simple past because their arrival just happened and the result of that action is still highly relevant in the present moment.
