Questions & Answers about قبل از اینکه یکی را انتخاب کنی، باید کاربرد هر دو گزینه را بررسی کنی.
Why does the sentence use yeki instead of just yek, and where is digari (the other)?
Yeki acts as an indefinite pronoun meaning "one of them". While you often see yeki paired with digari (one... the other), here the second half of the contrast is handled by examining har do gozine (both options) instead. We must use yeki rather than yek because it stands alone as a pronoun object instead of modifying a noun.
Why are both verbs, entekhab koni and barrasi koni, in the subjunctive form?
Entekhab koni is subjunctive because it follows ghabl az in-ke (before), which triggers the subjunctive mood since the action hasn't happened yet. Barrasi koni is subjunctive because it follows bayad (must).
There are two ra markers in this sentence. What exactly are they pointing to?
The first ra marks yeki (one) as the specific direct object of the verb "choose". The second ra marks the entire noun phrase karbord-e har do gozine (the use of both options) as the direct object of "examine".
How does har do gozine work, and why isn't the word for "options" plural?
Har do means "both" (literally "each two"). In Farsi, nouns that follow numbers or quantity words always remain in the singular form, which is why we say gozine (option) instead of the plural gozine-ha.
