Questions & Answers about باد شدید نیست، پس ما میتوانیم در آسمان شناور شویم.
Why does this sentence use شویم instead of میشویم?
شویم is the present subjunctive of شدن (to become). Even though this sentence doesn't use the impersonal expressions of probability taught in this lesson (like ممکن است), it uses the modal verb میتوانیم (we can). Just like probability phrases, modal verbs always require the action verb that follows them to be in the present subjunctive.
Shouldn't the subjunctive have a ب- prefix, making it شناور بشویم?
It can, but it is extremely common to drop the ب- prefix when dealing with compound verbs formed with کردن or شدن. Because شناور شدن (to float) is a compound verb, saying شناور شویم sounds much more natural and common to native speakers than شناور بشویم.
Is شدید the normal word for "strong" in Farsi?
شدید translates more closely to "severe," "intense," or "extreme." It is the standard word to use for weather (like wind or rain) or sensations (like pain). If you want to describe a physically strong person, animal, or object, you should use قوی instead.
Why include the pronoun ما if the verbs already end in -یم?
Because Farsi verb endings already indicate the subject (seen in میتوانیم and شویم), using ما (we) is grammatically optional. Including it here simply adds a slight emphasis to "we" or helps balance the rhythm of the sentence after the conjunction پس (so). Dropping it would be completely correct as well.
