From Lesson 253:Not anymore (digar)·Farsi

Questions & Answers about تبلت خیلی کند است و ما دیگر از آن استفاده نمی‌کنیم.

How does digar work with the negative verb here to mean "anymore"?
In Farsi, to say you "no longer" do something, you use the adverb digar (which often means other or more) combined with a negative verb. Here, digar pairs with the negative verb nemi-konim (we don't do) to mean "we do not do it anymore."
Why is digar placed right after instead of at the end of the sentence like "anymore" in English?
Adverbs of time and frequency in Farsi, like digar, usually come early in the clause, often right after the subject (). While English puts "anymore" at the very end of the sentence, Farsi prefers putting digar before the object and verb.
Why do we say az ân (from it) instead of just using a direct object?
The Farsi equivalent for "to use" is the compound verb estefâdeh kardan (literally: to do use). In Farsi, you cannot use an object directly; instead, you "make use from" it. Because of this, the verb always requires the preposition az (from) right before the thing you are using.
The word kond is used here for "slow". Could I use yavâsh or âhesteh instead?
Not naturally in this context. Kond is used for things that are sluggish, laggy, or operating at a low processing speed (like a tablet, internet connection, or even a dull knife). Yavâsh and âhesteh describe the physical speed of a movement, like someone walking or driving slowly.
