Questions & Answers about آنها کشش بین خورشید و زمین را محاسبه کردند.
How is the word کشش formed in this sentence?
It is an action noun made from the verb کشیدن (to pull). You take its present stem, which is کش, and add the suffix ـِش (-esh). This turns the action of pulling into the noun کشش (pull or attraction).
Why is the object marker را placed after زمین instead of directly after the main noun کشش?
The word را marks the entire definite direct object phrase, not just the head noun. Because they calculated the pull between the sun and the earth, the whole phrase کشش بین خورشید و زمین acts as the object, so را must attach to the very end of that phrase.
Does the word بین require an ezafe to connect it to the nouns?
Yes, as a preposition meaning between, it links to the following noun with an ezafe. You pronounce it as بینِ خورشید (beyn-e khorshid). The ezafe is typically not written but is an essential invisible connector.
What are the components of the verb محاسبه کردند?
It is a compound verb made of the Arabic loanword محاسبه (calculation) and the Farsi auxiliary verb کردند (they did). While it literally translates to they did calculation, it simply means they calculated in everyday Farsi.
