Questions & Answers about لازم است که دقت کنید، چون ممکن است که آسیب ببینید.
Why don't lâzem ast and momken ast change to match the 'you' subject?
lâzem ast (it is necessary) and momken ast (it is possible) are impersonal phrases. This means they are always frozen in this base form. To specify who needs to do the action, you change the ending of the subjunctive verb that comes after ke. Here, konid and bebinid show that it is you doing the acting.
Why is the subjunctive verb deghat konid missing the usual be- prefix?
The infinitive is deghat kardan (to pay attention). When making a compound verb with kardan subjunctive, the be- prefix technically attaches to the verb part to make bekonid. However, in modern Farsi, it is very common to drop the be- prefix entirely for verbs ending in kardan. So, deghat konid is used instead of deghat bekonid.
How exactly is the verb âsib bebinid formed?
It comes from the compound verb âsib didan (to get injured, which literally translates as to see damage). The present stem of didan (to see) is the irregular stem bin. To form the present subjunctive for a 'you' subject, we take the be- prefix, add the stem bin, and attach the plural/formal ending -id, resulting in âsib bebinid.
Is the word ke mandatory after these impersonal phrases?
No, you can drop ke (that), especially in everyday conversational speech. Saying lâzem ast deghat konid or momken ast âsib bebinid is perfectly correct and very common. Keeping ke just makes the sentence sound slightly more structured and formal.
